The purpose of the LLC “Regional Water Supply Montenegro Coast” is the continuous supply of high-quality drinking water to the municipalities of the Montenegrin coast. This implies permanent maintenance, development, and improvement of the water supply system in a high-quality and cost-effective manner.
The safety of drinking water plays a key role in preserving health; therefore, the Company’s activities are based on maintaining the quantity, quality, and hygienic safety of drinking water.
LLC “Regional Water Supply Montenegro Coast” recognizes the importance of risk management in water production, specifically the significance of a preventive management approach that covers all steps—from water withdrawal to final distribution. Guided by this, the HACCP system was formally introduced in 2017, while the Company strives to implement quality systems in other business segments as well.
The natural composition of the water from the “Bolje Sestre” source is such that it does not require any treatment, except for the mandatory disinfection prescribed by law.
Water quality control is performed at two levels: in the internal laboratory for physical-chemical testing and externally by a health institution that holds special authorization and accreditation for this type of testing.
The results of all tests, both from exploratory works and during the exploitation period, have shown that the water is of exceptionally high quality. The hardness is relatively low, the water has buffering capacity, low neutral salt content, and sufficient oxygen. The organic matter content is very low. Concentrations of heavy metals are below the sensitivity threshold of analytical methods. Only in exceptional situations (between 1% and 2% of analysed samples) does the distributed water fail to meet the prescribed legal norms, specifically in cases of increased turbidity, which is characteristic of karst springs.
Based on all water quality test results to date, the logical conclusion is that the quality of water from the “Bolje Sestre” source is consistently high, sustainable, and meets strict criteria for drinking water and water supply. Therefore, preserving water quality and safety remains one of the top operational priorities.
A Quality Management System represents the way an organization determines its direction and manages its business activities, with the aim of appropriately meeting the needs, expectations, and requirements of users while complying with relevant standards. In this way, the organization gains the trust of users and stakeholders.
In 2017, LLC “Regional Water Supply Montenegro Coast” certified its implemented HACCP system for the first time, with recertification performed in 2021. This system represents a logical, science-based system for controlling the production and distribution processes of drinking water. This has led to the development of a series of controlled and defined operations that correspond to specific production and distribution conditions, aimed at ensuring water safety at every step of the process.
LLC “Regional Water Supply Montenegro Coast” has set environmental protection as one of its priorities, based on the principles of sustainable development and the application of the MEST ISO 14001:2016 standard. This system was certified in 2021. By integrating the environmental management system into regular business operations, the Company achieves a reduction in potential negative environmental impacts, lowers the risk of ecological disasters, and increases its capacity for fast and efficient intervention, while improving its reputation and building trust within the community. Among other things, the Company thus demonstrates its care for environmental protection, promoting and confirming its commitment to socially responsible business practices.
